A Baltimore anesthesiologist, Dr. Lawrence Egbert, who was barred from practicing medicine has vouched to appeal the revocation of his medical license.
Egbert’s medical license was revoked by the Maryland Board of Physicians following allegation that the anesthesiologist assisted in six suicides in the State.
Egbert denies the allegations, but has advised more than 100 people on how to take their own lives as medical director for the Final Exit Network.
He argued his actions did not constitute the practice of medicine, but the board disagreed.
The anesthesiologist faces similar charges in other states, but has not been convicted.
The doctor said he has a clear conscience about his actions.
“I’m proud of myself. I think any doctor should be willing to do that,” Egbert said.
Egbert argues his actions did not constitute the practice of medicine, but the board disagreed.
