PRESIDENT Goodluck Jonathan has promised to overhaul the agriculture sector in Kwara State as he quotes World Bank and Cable News Network -CNN, to prove his claim that the country has excelled economically.
The president made the promise to the people of Kwara during his reelection campaign at the Metropolitan Square, Ilorin on Monday.
Jonathan said that agriculture would be boosted to create wealth for the youths in the state.
He boasted that his administration had improved Nigeria’s economy, adding that the World Bank and reports by the United States based Cable Network News-CNN, had attested to the fact.
He said: “And some people talk about the economy. The economy you all know has become the largest in Africa. It was not by chance, we work with the private sector.’’
“A few days ago, CNN announced that Nigeria had joined other nations where the economy will blossom. If CNN can say that who is the economist in Nigeria that says what the world has seen about Nigeria is not correct? Who is the economist that can tell me that he is superior to the economists in the World Bank? “Who is the economist in Nigeria that can tell me he is superior to the economist in the IMF? Who is the economist in Nigeria that can tell me that he is sharper or better focused than the CNN?’’ the president queried.
“People should stop deceiving Nigerians. We are working hard to move this country forward and we will work with the people of Kwara State to move the state forward.
