Black Stars of Ghana captain, Asamoah Gyan says the team is not will not argue over bonus at this year’s Nations Cup tournament as it did during the 2014 World Cup in Brazil.
The former Sunderland striker dismissed claims that the players were already complaining over winning bonus as they prepare for the tournament in Equatorial Guinea.
Gyan said: “We are happy everything has been resolved. We are not thinking about any money issues now. What we are thinking about is the African Cup of Nations,” he said.
He said the players are ready to prove to Ghanaians and the world that the players are not after money as they represent their country.
“We are just playing with our hearts and then make sure we die for the nation. It is not about the money. We are just here to die for the nation because we are Ghanaians.” Gyan said,
Ghana Football Association –GFA, has approved $5,000 bonus package for the players of the Black Stars.
It would be recalled that the Black Stars Ghana’s participation in the 2014 World Cup tournament in Brazil ended on a sad note following controversies over allowances, which resulted in the suspension of AC Milan midfielder Sule Muntari.
The Black Stars will face Senegal in their first game at the 2015 African Cup of Nation in Equatorial Guinea on Monday January 19.
