Over 8,000 People Are Displaced After Sunday's Attack On Monguno – NEMA


















OVER 8000 Internally Displaced Persons –IDP, who fled into Maiduguri on Sunday following an attack by extremist group, Boko Haram have been registered the National Emergency Management Agency –NEMA.

Troops of the Nigerian Army had repelled simultaneous attacks by the insurgents on Monguno town, about 126km north of Maiduguri the Borno state capital.

Information Officer of NEMA, Abdulkadir Ibrahim, said the agency in collaboration with Red Cross officials and security operatives have been mobilized to ensure proper care of the victims.

“We have set up an emergency response team and they have provided them with drugs and drinking water as immediate measure aimed at managing the situation”, Ibrahim said.

The team is expected to revisit the camp and distribute relief materials such as food items, mattresses, mats, blankets, mosquito nets among others.
