BOXER Anthony Ogogo has blasted ex-The Wanted singer Jay McGuiness, actress Helen George and Peter Andre, for having an advantage after his elimination from Strictly Come Dancing 2015.
Born Anthony Osezua Ojo Ogogo, to a Nigerian parent, the 26-year-old was knocked out of the BBC one show in the second round on Sunday night.
“Being a novice, it’s hard to do well. When you’re up against who’s done ballet, it’s hard to compete. I’d never danced before. I’ve not been in a boy band,’’ Ogogo said.
The show’s judges criticised his paso doble. Bruno Tonioli, 59, said it was “all over the place” and Craig Revel Horwood, 50, called it “more of a stampede than a sweep”.
But the boxer, who won a bronze medal for Great Britain at London 2012 said he was battling a shoulder injury from boxing and stars with dance experience.
He said: “I’m gutted to be out. I’m not the best but I’m not the worst. But being a novice, it’s hard to do well.
“I’d never danced before. I’ve not done ballet or been in a boyband or been a pop star.
“When you’re up against Jay McGuiness who’s done ballet, and Helen George who’s done ballet and Peter Andre who’s been a pop star for as long as I’ve been alive, it’s very, very hard to beat all those guys.”
