AN explosive detonated by a female suicide bomber Sunday killed eight people in Maiduguri.
The suicide bomber targeted a group of women and children, who arrived in the Borno State capital from nearby Mafa village ravaged by Boko Haram.
According to the Northeast Director of the National Emergency Management Agency NEMA, Mohammed Kanar, the attacker sneaked in among the Internally Displaced Person before setting off her explosives.
“The IDPs (interally displaced persons), mostly women and children, were stopped for security checks at the checkpoint when the bomber, disguised as an IDP, sneaked in among them before setting off her explosives,” Kanar said.
“Eight people were killed and seven others were injured in the incident.”
Mafa is a district located near the Nigerian/Cameroon, an area controlled by terrorist group, Boko Haram.
Although, no group has claimed responsibility for Sunday’s attack, but locals had pointed accusing fingers at the extremist group.
