THE body responsible for the admission of students into universities in Nigeria has been commended for taking steps that help in remitting billions of naira into the federal government’s coffers.
Minister of Education, Mallam Adamu Adamu, Monday said the establishment of more Computer Based Centres – CBTs, across the country by the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board – JAMB, is worthy of praise.
Adamu, who was represented by at the foundation laying ceremony of a 500-capacity CBT centre at the Aminu Saleh College of Education, Azare, said the innovations by JAMB have led to the remittance of billions of naira which has not been witnessed in the past.
The minister also said that the bodies have created a healthy synergy to carry out the presidential directive for the establishment of the centres in order to provide easy access to candidates to carry out JAMB tests using technology.
He noted that the establishment of the CBT centres has broadened access to technology-based tests as obtained elsewhere in the world.
