George Weah Is Liberia’s Next President

FORMER world best footballer, George Weah, has been elected the president of Liberia after clinching 12 of the 15 counties in the West African country.

 

Weah has taken to his Twitter handle to thank all his supporters, saying that he plans to liberate the country.

The former Monaco striker-turned politician becomes the 25th president of the country after President Ellen Johnson-Sirleaf who will be bowing out of office in weeks.

“I am deeply grateful to my family, my friends, and my loyal supporters who contributed to our campaign during this extremely long election season,” Weah wrote on Twitter, even before the results were announced.
