THE Nigerian Army on Wednesday replaced the Theatre Commander of Operation Lafiya Dole, Maj-Gen. Attahiru Ibrahim, with another major general, Rogers Nicholas, who now leads the campaign against Boko Haram terrorists.

This is coming barely three days after the terrorists carried out one of the deadliest attacks on Biu town in Borno where at least 18 people were killed with 52 others sustaining serious injuries.

The incoming Theatre Commander was, until his appointment, the Chief of Logistics at Army headquarters in Abuja.

Before that, Nicholas was Commander of the Special Security Task Force in Jos as well as Chief of Civil Military Affairs at Army headquarters.

Ibrahim is believed to have been redeployed to the Army headquarters as the Deputy Chief of Policy and Plans.

Although the Army is yet to officially announced the new deployments to Nigerians, Premium Times reports that the military radio in Borno state has already made the announcements.
