FUOYE: Fayose Writes Buhari Over Renaming Varsity After Gen. Adebayo

NEARLY one year after he announced renaming of the Federal University, Oye Ekiti – FUOYE, as Adeyinka Adebayo University, President Muhammadu Buhari has been asked to act on the pronouncement.

 

Vice President, Yemi Osinbajo made the announcement on behalf of President Buhari at the late General Adebayo’s burial on May 20, 2017.

In a reminder letter sent to Buhari, Ekiti State Governor, Ayodele Fayose urged the President to effect the change immediately.

“The acting president on the occasion announced the decision of the federal government to rename the Federal University, Oye Ekiti as Adeyinka Adebayo University in recognition of the exemplary leadership of the late hero and frontline statesman,’’ Fayose said in a letter dated January 29, 2018.

“However, more than seven months after this pronouncement, nothing has been done.

Late General Robert Adeyinka Adebayo was the governor of defunct Western Region.
