Schools Go on Lock Down After Student Mentions Gun

SCHOOLS across Sahuarita Unified School District were put on lockdown as a precaution Wednesday after a student at one of its high schools was overheard asking if it was legal to bring a gun to school.

Authorities said the Sahuarita High School student who reportedly made the comment fled in his vehicle when a school administrator asked to search the vehicle.

A fellow student at Sahuarita High reported the conversation to school administration shortly before 1 p.m. School officials then contacted police “who initiated a district-wide lock-down as a precaution,” the news release said.

Authorities searched every affected campus but found nothing amiss, it said.
