Ambode Hosts May, as Britain Step Up Trade Mission in Africa












THE British Prime Minister, Theresa May, arrived at the Murtala Muhammed Airport – MMA, Ikeja, Lagos on Wednesday afternoon.


May was received at the airport by Lagos State Governor, Akinwunmi Ambode.

The British Prime Minister is billed to spend time with victims of modern slavery during her brief stay in Lagos

May, who arrived in the country earlier Wednesday, had met with President Muhammadu Buhari in Abuja before heading to Lagos.

Nigeria and Britain had signed two agreements on Defence and Security partnership as well as Economic Development Forum prior to May’s trip to Lagos.

The prime minister – on her first visit to Africa since 2016, is expected in Nairobi, Kenya, where she will meet President Uhuru Kenyatta.

She’s scheduled to see British soldiers training troops from Kenya and other African countries in the techniques needed to identify and destroy improvised explosive devices before they go to fight Al-Shabaab in Somalia.

May is on a trade mission in an attempt to bolster Britain’s post-Brexit fortunes.
