SOUTH AFRICAN police have dug up the bodies of five women, after a man allegedly confessed to killing a victim he met on Facebook.
Officers investigating the disappearance of one woman made the horrific discoveries, Mpumalanga province police said on Sunday.
“When police went to his place, he ran away, but his mother took him to the police station,” Colonel Mtsholi Mbembe said.
“That was when he confessed to the first body,” the police boss added.
The man allegedly told the police that he had met the woman on Facebook and that they had sex.
He confessed that he punched the deceased and she fell down, hit her head, and died after the woman demanded for money and threatened to tell the police that he had raped her if he did not pay up.
The man allegedly told investigators that he had buried four more bodies.
Police have found four more bodies between Friday and Sunday.
Mbembe said he met the other women in nightclubs and bars.
The accused claimed that each time they had sex, the women asked for money and so he would punch them until they died.
