Disgruntled Residents Hurl Insults at Buhari Over Boko Haram

APPARENTLY unhappy with the insecurity in Borno State, protesters booed President Muhammadu Buhari when he travelled to Maiduguri to sympathize with the people over recent Boko Haram attacks.

Disgruntled protesters were seen on the streets, hurling insults at President Buhari as his convoy drove past.

Chants of “Buhari, we don’t like you,’’ filled the air.

The Maiduguri resident could be heard shouting ‘’We don’t want you anymore,” in Hausa on a video that has since gone viral on social media.

Meanwhile, President Buhari assured the people of the state of his administration’s commitment to improving the security in Borno.

“I assure you that improvement in security will be pursued vigorously. The military will work harder and strategise with tactics to deal with the insurgents. This is however not possible without good intelligence and cooperation with local community leaders.

“Boko Haram cannot come up to Maiduguri or environs without the local leadership knowing because traditionally, the local leadership is in charge of security in their own respective areas.

“I want to call on the leadership at various levels to cooperate with law enforcement agencies and let us deny Boko Haram access to our loyal citizens,” the President said.
