QUEEN Elizabeth’s eldest grandchild, Peter Phillips — son of Princess Anne and Mark Phillips — and his wife, Autumn Kelly, are calling it quits on their marriage after 12 years.
According to a royal statement, Phillips and Kelly will share custody of their two daughters, Savannah, 9, and 7-year-old Isla.
“They had reached the conclusion that this was the best course of action for their two children and ongoing friendship,” read the statement.
“The decision to divorce and share custody came about after many months of discussions and although sad, is an amicable one.”
The two will continue residing in Gloucestershire, located about 100 miles west of London.
The 42-year-old royal is 15th in line of succession to the British throne and will become the first of Elizabeth’s grandkids to divorce. He married Kelly, a Canadian management consultant, in 2008.
“Both families were naturally sad at the announcement, but fully supporting of Peter and Autumn in their joint decision to co-parent their children,” according to the statement.
