THE Christian Association of Nigeria – CAN, has condemned the continued lockdown of places of worship, saying the order is not longer ‘justifiable.’
CAN President, Rev Samson Ayokunle, Tuesday asked the Lagos and Ogun state governments to reopen churches as directed by the Presidential Task Force on COVID-19.
“What sin have the places of worship committed?” Rev Ayokunle queried in a statement signed by his spokesman, Bayo Oladeji.
“Is it not our members in the places of worship that go to markets and other sectors? Is it that people cannot contract the virus in the markets and airports?” part of the statement further said.
Still speaking on behalf of CAN, the clergyman said that Church also had a role to play through prayers.
CAN urged state governments to yield to its ‘quest.’
