As part of efforts to ensure victory in next year’s presidential election, Nigeria’s former military ruler and one of the presidential aspirants seeking the ticket of the All Progressives Congress (APC), General Muhammadu Buhari is aiming to raise N7 billion to fund his campaign.
General Buhari is relying on over 70 million APC supporters across Nigeria to contribute N100 each towards his campaign fund.
Buhari said during a meeting with a group of young supporters under the aegis of Buhari Support Organisation, that he decided to agree with the idea because of the accountability and transparency in the group’s operations.
He said the move is worthy of praise because of it’s desire to practice what it preaches.
“What makes it worthy of praise is the fact that the initiative comes with its in-built mechanism for ensuring acceptability that is also transparency -friendly. If we preach accountability we should be able to practice it.
