LAGOS –

A low sonic radiation used as a weapon to cause structural damage and destruction to objects has been identified as the cause of the collapsed building of the Synagogue Church of All Nations – SCOAN.

An expert in explosives and weapons, Mr. Biedomo Iguniwei made this known while testifying before a coroner’s court investigating the incident in Lagos.

Iguniwei described the sonic radiation as a high energy infrasonic weapon.

The former research scientist in weapons production said he analysed the CCTV footage of a plane-like object which flew above the church prior to the collapse of the edifice before arriving at his conclusion.

The expert, who claimed to have interviewed two of the survivors concluded that the flying object fired an infrasonic weapon that crumbled the building.

He said: “An infrasonic weapon can be fired or deployed from any flying object or from a location within a distance of between one hundred metres and 1,000 metres away from the intended target.

“This infrasonic weapon employs vibration to induce high density destructive resonance in the building leading to a near perfect vertical crumbling experience.

To support his point, Iguniwei cited the 1940 destruction of the Tacoma Narrows Bridge in Washington as a case where such weapon was used.

He said the technology was not visible to human eye as, according to him, radiation, unlike bombs, does not generate heat or lead to burning.

The Coroner, Mr Oyetade Komolafe, directed Igubiwei to submit his research on the incident to the court on January 5, 2015.
