Bayelsa State Governor, Henry Seriake Dickson has assured Nigeria’s First Lady, Patience Jonathan of her safety if the wife of the president chooses to visit the state for her husband’s reelection campaign next month.
Dickson condemned a statement by a youth group, threatening to cause mayhem if Mrs. Patience is sighted when the Peoples Democratic Party campaign train moves to Bayelsa.
The governor said it is the responsibility of the Government to ensure the safety and well being of members of the first family, especially during visits and other related activities within and outside the State.
Dickson described the publication, as most unfortunate and uncalled for, and warned groups planning to attack the First Lady to have a rethink.
He stressed that such action was totally unnecessary and against the collective will and aspirations of the government and people of the State.
The Bayelsa State governor however, expressed regret over the embarrassment the publication might have caused President Jonathan and his wife, Dame Patience.
Dickson also noted that the State would remain home to President Jonathan, his wife, Dame Patience and every citizen of the country.
A Bayelsa based youth group, ‘’Bayelsa Youth Vanguard’’ –BYV, had warned Mrs. Jonatthan to stay away from the state during the president’s reelection campaign next month.
The threat was contained in a press statement by BYV on Thursday.
