The All Progressives Congress –APC, has described Tuesday’s attack on its supporters as a sign of desperation by the Peoples Democratic Party –PDP to claim River State.
APC said in a statement issued in Abuja Wednesday that the PDP can not cope with the realization that its losing followership in the state, hence the attack on APC members.
The statement issued by National Publicity Secretary of the party, Alhaji Lai Mohammed said the attack purportedly carried out by miscreants working for the PDP took a similar dimension to previous acts of violence against APC, including Rivers State Governor, Rotimi Amaechi.
The party expressed shock at Tuesday’s attack despite President Goodluck Jonathan’s assurances that the February elections would be free, fair and violent free.
The APC supporters were shot by gunmen while heading to the inaugural campaign of the party’s presidential candidate, General Muhammadu Buhari, in Rivers State on Tuesday.
