Police Fortifies Security In Ekiti Ahead of Jonathan, Buhari Visits

The Ekiti State Police command has urged politicians to be of good behaviours in order to ensure there is peace and orderliness when President Goodluck Jonathan and Gen. Muhammadu Buhari visit the State this week.

Representing the Peoples Democratic Party –PDP, Jonathan will be in Ekiti on Tuesday as he seeks reelection as President, while All Progressives Congress –APC, Presidential candidate, Gen. Muhammadu Buhari will attempt to win back the support of the people as he also takes his campaign to the now PDP controlled state.

In a statement on Sunday, the state police commissioner, Taiwo Lakanu also appealed to political parties supporters and the public at large to assist security agencies by acting within the confines of the law.

Lakanu assured that every measures have been put in place to ensure hitch-free rallies by the two candidates.

The Police Command however warned that there would be diversion of traffic in some areas in Ado-Ekiti, where the rallies are expected to take place.

The statement urged road users to use alternative routes between 6:am and 4:pm on Tuesday and Wednesday.
