THE ruling All Progressives Congress – APC, says it did no err with the decision to replace the party’s National Working Committee –NWC, with the newly put in place caretaker committee.
After at the Presidential Villa, Abuja on Thursday, the National Executive Committee of the APC, introduced the caretaker committee led by Governor Mai Mala Bunu of Yobe.
Speaking to reporters on the crisis rocking the ruling APC, the Chairman of the Progressive Governors’ Forum – PGF, Atiku Bagudu said that President Muhammadu Buhari sorted legal advice taking a position.
Bagudu also said that President Buhari would keep his promise not to sacrifice due process for expediency.
He said: “Even when it was convenient to extend the tenure of the then executive so that we don’t have a convention and primary at the same time,’’ the Chairman of the PGF noted that Buhari said ‘‘no, no matter how tough it is, we are going to do the correct legal thing.’’
“So, Mr. President will never do anything which the constitutional provisions of the party, talk less of the country, do not allow him to do.”
Governor Bagudu said that media reports on the NEC decisions indicated that many people were pleased.
