Osun, Oyo Agree to Cancel Joint Ownership of LAUTECH

THE Governments of Osun and Oyo States have agreed to cancel the joint ownership of Ladoke Akintola University – LAUTECH, and Ladoke Akintola College of Health.

Executive Secretary of the National Universities Commission – NUC, Professor Abubakar Rasheed, made this known Friday in Abuja.

According to Professor Rasheed, the decision between the two states was as a result of governance and management challenges, which he said was affecting the appointments of vice-chancellors and other principal officers. Rasheed also cited irregular payment of staff salaries as another challenge.

Henceforth, the institution’s teaching hospital, situated in Osogbo, Osun, will be solely the responsibility of the State’s Government.

Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo and his Osun state counterpart, Gboyega Oyetola formalized the dissolution through a memorandum of agreement, which they both signed.

The agreement dissolution was witnessed by the Attorney Generals of both states, giving legal effect to the transfer of ownership of LAUTECH to the government of Oyo State and the College of Health Sciences, Osogbo to the government of Osun State.
