A group of women known as Concerned Benue Mothers – CBM, has accused the presidency of sponsoring the killings by Fulani herdsmen, saying the gruesome murders are not religiously motivated as been claimed by some Nigerians.
‘’No Muslim fights or Kills during Ramadan. The killing even took place more at that time than now. They should not tell us it’s Muslims. It is a hidden agenda and this hidden agenda is being sponsored from the presidency,’’ Rebecca Apedzan, who led the group said in Makurdi on Monday.
‘’If all Nigerians are saying ranching and the presidency continues to say grazing reserve, then presidency has a hidden agenda.
The group asked that President Muhammadu Buhari directly speak to the nation on the issue.
‘We did not vote for Garba Shehu. We did not vote for Femi Adesina. We want to hear our president speak to us,’’ Apedzan added.
The former federal lawmaker called on President Buhari to announce the cancellation of his plan to impose grazing reserves on Nigerians and instead evolve a National Ranching Policy.
“The Federal Government should also throw its weight behind Southern Governors’ Asaba declaration against open grazing.
“President Buhari should motivate security agencies and direct them to be professional and neutral in the discharge of their duties.”
